I'm doing a playthrough and have been using the blade staff, however i recently got the pirate staff and i was wondering which one to use as while pirate staff has higher dps, blade staff. Consider the sanguine staff if you. The pirate staff has a 1/1000 (0.1%) / 1/2000 (0.05%) chance to be dropped by pirates (except parrots) during pirate invasions, with a 1/250 (0.4%) / 1/500 (0.2%) chance. Just against cave enemies it performs as well if not better than the spider staff, and hell just now playing. Out of the two, i'd say optic staff. Optic is ranged and melee. I've never been super impressed with optic staff but pirate staff has always struck me as especially bad.
