Most lly's rub the ficm wires through right at the alternator. I've seen the information drquad posted about the ficm self repair, basically resoldering the cold solder joints and some have replaced the input and output capacitors but i. That causes reduced power aka 'limp mode'.

There has been discussion since the fuel runs thorugh the ficm and the fuel temp can get pretty high that the ficm might process faster and run smoother if it was cooled by. Lengthened all the wires 2 feet and used heat shrink on each wire and wrapped with a tape. The ficm uses this replicated signal to generate injection current and control the recharge of the fuel injection high voltage circuits. These have shorter life as the electrolyte can dry out, it can fail by shorting or overheating and dumping it's electrolyte.

In the lly it uses electrolytic capacitors for the injectors. There's also another place where the wires go further down and. I cleared it and it hasn't come back. Hooked mine up to the fuel return side with a small power steering cooler.
